Quick Dollar Store Halloween Necklace!

On the theme of spiders...following the dress from yesterday...

I needed a coordinating necklace for the dress - spiders! And I needed it fast!  I made this just before we left the house for the party -

It's made from all dollar store materials, and with a little bit of light exposure -

Glows in the dark and by blacklight!

Cool, isn't it?

All dollar store materials = perfect Halloween touch!

Here's how to make it - there's no pictures for the process since I was in a hurry, but it's pretty self explanatory! If you have questions, contact me!

Head to your dollar store - I think I went to Dollar General for mine.

Grab a tube of E-6000 glue - our DG had it, but you may already have it on hand. Any big box store will have it too - Walmart and Target do.

Grab a bag of creepies - I was lucky to find glow in the dark spiders, but there were centipedes, lizards, and other "creepy" things.  And this was just in the regular toy section, not Halloween stuff.

Find the cheapest chain necklace in the store - I think mine was $3. I just tossed the pendant it came with in my craft supplies and used the chain only.

Bring it all home, and lay the chain out on your crafting surface.

Take your creepies out, and lay them just how you like them above your chain.  I wanted my spiders facing all the same direction, but anything goes.

Follow the directions on your glue - for mine, I put a dot of glue where I wanted it on each spider, not moving the spiders from how I laid them out.  Then I let it cure for 2 minutes, and carefully moved the chain onto the glue dots for each spider, keeping it just how I wanted it to dry.

Then I made sure the chain was covered from the glue dots, using a toothpick to push it into the glue.

Let dry according to directions, unless you are in a complete and total rush, then let mostly dry and carefully shove it into a ziploc and pray it makes it. And it did!

The necklace and spiders are now permanently fused, and don't budge in the least.

Don't forget, if you got glow in the dark creepies, charge them up and let them shine!

Thanks for stopping by!

Jess

  1. That's perfect - and it goes really well with your dress, I'm sure. Thanks for linking up at Romance on a dime.
