KCWC - Airplane Pants

I asked my four year old what he'd like me to make for his this week. Oy!  What a response.  I don't know if I'll get to all of them this week, but here's one of them -

Airplane Pants!

I made this pair of Sew Liberated's Basic Pocket pants from Growing up Sew Liberated, with some modifications, of course.  I've made these pants before (here and here and somewhere else...), and I think they look super sweet.

I had some fabric that featured vintage planes, and some bottomweight green fabric, so when he said "airplane pants" I tried not to jump for joy that I had everything for them already.

I used contrast fabric for - the cuff, the elastic casing, the pockets, and the pocket binding.  I'm so excited about the pockets - you have a whole pocket full of secret airplanes to grin about!

These are size 4T - and they run a little big, so I think we'll get some wear out of them. I didn't feel like drafting a bigger pattern late last night.

They went off without much of a problem.  Though, this time, and at least one other time, I ended up with a casing that was too short and cuffs that were too short. I cut them to the pattern, so I'm not sure what the problem is.  I just kept chugging along and made it work. No need to stress over perfection on my kids clothes - we are not "strive for perfection" kind of people. I'm okay with that. :)

Thanks for coming by! I made some MORE Flashback Tees that I have to show you next!

By the way - I've been using my thrift store sewing machine all week long (when I'm not using the serger!)
