Bragging!

I have to brag for a minute. Don't hate me!  I need help with an idea, that's why I'm sharing.

Last week, I won something -  Jess at Craftiness is Not Optional offered a giveaway from My Fabric Store - an amazing bunch of Birch Storyboek fabric...18 different fabrics, in half yard cuts.

And I won. Jaw dropping, right??? My husband rolled his eyes. He doesn't see the need for more pretty fabric. Boys.

For those of you needing a daily dose of pretty fabric, here it is in it's new home:

It came in neat little stacks, tied nicely with a scrap of the Birch fabric itself! So cute!

I laid it all out:

I know, right?
Don't die of shock!

It's all just so pretty!

So pretty I don't know what to do with it!

I have two boys - so most of these fabrics they'll be "meh" about for garments, but my oldest has an extreme interest in oceans/sea animals.

I HATE quilting, but I think that may be the best way to let these fabrics live together forever.  What do you think?

What would you use them for?

I'm so nervous to even cut into them for goodness sake! I think they are gorgeous and I want to make myself things from them too - but I don't think a half yard will quite cover me.  :)

So my question to you - what would you do? What would you make, and for whom?  Because I'm stumped.

In the meantime, while I work that out, I'm getting going for KCWC - Kids Clothes Week Challenge - over at Elsie Marley.  I've got some shirts in the works, but I"m not sure what else I'll get done this week.  Are you participating? What are you making?

Thanks for your help guys! Leave me a comment or message me if you can help!

  1. Those fabrics are gorgeous! Here are some projects I've done that don't require much fabric:

You could also frame a piece on the wall. I have a frame collage and several of the frames have fabric that matches our pillows. I love it! The coral colored fabric with the trees is beautiful!

    1. Ha - is it bad I didn't think of making something for myself that wasn't clothes? I like the idea of the pencil case, but as a clutch. I might do that for myself!

  2. That's so funny, I recently won a giveway and received a bunch of fabric from the Fabric Fairy. I feel similarly in AWE and unsure of what to do. I'm a beginner sewist, so I don't think I can tackle anything too daunting...but I'm thinking baby clothes for some of mine (a lot of them are soft knits). For you...a quilt or market bag would be loverly! BTW Thanks for your comment on my clothing labels!
