Thrifted awesomeness!

Note : if you just want to see the pics, scroll down! I got excited talking about thrifting.

If you've been around the blog at all, you know I have a problem. Thrift stores just call to me, and furniture is my siren song. You should see the pile of furniture in my garage. Not, actually, you shouldn't. Too embarrassing.

Thriving to me is a way to fill my need to shop without completely blowing my budget. I'm somewhat picky about what I bring home, because if I'm not, it is destined to eventually head back to the shop. Waste of money. But I've been gradually changing over furniture in my home, replacing cheap big box store furniture with older, quality, well made pieces. The downside to this (besides the mountain of garage furniture) is that the whole of my house weighs hundreds of pounds more than it did, for big chunks of wooden furniture coming in.

I haven't thrifted as much lately, my house has reached some sort of equilibrium. There's a couple of pieces I need, but they aren't a big rush. I have been looking for a good wine rack or liquor cabinet for a while though. Right now everything hangs out in the pantry and gets lost.

The boys and I stopped at the park this morning, then got some cold drinks and headed to Goodwill. When they have a good week, or we've been home bound for a while, I'll let them pick out new to them toys.

I headed straight for the furniture when I got there, as I always do. I tell you, it calls me. And lo and behold there was a big and sturdy wine rack. Big big. And $9.99! I put it in the cart, barely fitting it, and turned, and guess what? It had a twin! We lugged those things to the front, bought them, took them to car, and came back in for toys. $20 for those? Yay! A little steep for Goodwill, but a rare find!

Don't worry, the boys still got their toys, I didn't forget!

Everyone was happy. Great day. Want to see my find? (at least I didn't say racks?)

Yeah, it's in my pantry. And for the size of my house, this pantry is a beast. In 1985 we probably had the biggest pantry in the city. Or something.

Sorry my pantry is a mess, it's always a work in progress.

But look at the awesomeness!

I laid the racks on their sides and stacked them, and they now have a great surface for a little bar setup! I feel all 1970s cocktail now. Maybe I should make a retro cocktail dress for myself and a sport coat for Mr. Tupelo. Ha!

Any good things happening for you right now? Any thrift finds to share?

Have a great one!

Jess
