Hi all!
I just sat and finished a cute girly hat. I don't know if any of you watch New Girl (if you don't you should), but there was a ladies yarn session in one episode, (http://www.fox.com/new-girl/full-episodes/7757392/jess-and-julia), and the poor lawyer girl could only make something resembling a baby hat. Well, welcome to how I started with hats!
I don't like to follow patterns. I like to make my own and see how they turn out, and if I can envision something and recreate the idea in yarn. Ta-da!
So I sat down to make a hat today...a baby hat. I've learned one thing about making hats - don't let the yarn smell your fear. If I sit down with a particular hat size and style in mind, and question it at all, the yarn misbehaves and creates something else entirely. Don't let it know you are afraid - it won't work!
Hence, the baby hat is more a toddler hat, unless you have a particularly big headed baby. And I know from experience some of them come that way. (I'm talking to you little C.) And Georgia doesn't really make the best small headed model...maybe I should find a cute baby next time!
I call it the honeycomb hat, and it's a very similar pattern to a granny stripe, but in the round. It's a perfect springy warm hat in a variety of warm shades.
I was going to send it straight to my Etsy shop, but I know a little girl who would make a perfect hat tester. :)
