No Spend November - But look, it's so pretty!!

What are your No Spend November challenges?  My first one was my grocery trip to Target. Man, that place sucks you in. But I had to go there to get a shirt for Mr. A, for a school project. So I did groceries there as well. I walked out with just my groceries, the shirt, and a couple of other necessities - winter gloves. All forWAY less than I normally end up spending.

My next hurdle is this:

So let's say you are participating in a project where you aren't supposed to buy any excess stuff for a month. You know, hypothetical.

And you have been searching Craigslist for many months for 3 different items.

And then one pops up. And it's not necessarily something you need - it's just been a big want for awhile.  And you have been planning to buy it...

So then what do you do?  Is it frivolous if you've been planning the purchase for some time?

Well, in my mind it wasn't. But Mr. Tupelo felt differently, and I felt really bad about it. I had already arranged to pick up the piece, so I wasn't going back on that...but I didn't want to let him down, or you guys either.

This is No Spend November! This is not even halfway through the month! I can't fail already!

So I struck a compromise - that's what life is sometimes, right?

How about a money neutral deal?

I just cleaned out all the closets - yes, since I posted last, I went through all the closets.  And I found a lot of stuff I planned to donate, along with some furniture we'd outgrown.

The recliner from my parents we rocked our babies in...

The small dresser we stored newborn clothes in.

My old trusty sewing/craft table.

So I decided to Craigslist some of it, and try to break even on the deal, instead of donating it all like I normally would.

Turns out I had a lot of things other people want!  I'm working through all the responses now, and I'm hoping to break even by Saturday. Cross your fingers for me.

What would you have done?  Do you think it was frivolous, or was a planned purchase okay?

Cheers, everyone!
I promise I'll have a finished project soon....I'm just dragging my feet at the end of one. You know how it goes.

Jess
