Another Sheet-Package Remake!

Good morning and happy Monday to you all! I hope you all started the day pleasantly and unlike a typical Monday. Ours was a little rough around here. Full moon maybe?

Last week, I showed you how I "remade" the "packaging" for a sheet set to make a Medic Bag.

Well, one of A's friends had a birthday party this past weekend, and this idea came in handy again.  I haven't been crafting as much lately (with the hand hurting and all, dang tendonitis), but at the last minute, I just couldn't stand to not send something handmade.

I had bought a Spiderman sheet set on clearance the week before (for another project...), and the night before the party, the idea came to me: a messenger bag!

I used the packaging from the sheet set for the main part of the bag, and left the side Velcro flaps and the front Velcro flap intact.  I found a strip of black webbing in my stash, and repurposed it as a strap for the back.  I sewed the ends on with the "X" in a box, so it wouldn't come off easily.

Then I found a Spiderman-type spider logo online and used it as a stencil for my felt. I cut it out, laid it on the bag below the Velcro, and stitched it on in contrasting thread.  I think it gave it a slightly creepy, cartoonish look.

The bag is almost deep enough to hold the coloring book that's in it (part of the gift).  It sort of makes the shape look off in the pics, sorry!

The other handmade part?  I had been wanting to try this wallet tutorial from Delia Creates for a long time. She provides some patterns and great instructions for the wallet - easy!  I used red and blue felt (superhero colors, right?) and embroidered the first initial of A's friend on the front of the wallet.  Told you I needed to work with my hands!

As a sidenote, A also sewed himself a wallet - it's a good first sewing project, with a little bit of help. He's 4 going on 40.  Old man. :)

We added some Velcro to the inside of the wallet to keep it closed.  Well, and we added some cash for A's friend too.  :)

Hope you enjoyed the Remake!

Shared over at these great parties!
