SHARK!!!

Hi!

So I got conned into making a Shark Amigurumi for my oldest (A) this weekend.  It was a same day request, but since I had to block it, and I started it at noon, it took me a bit longer. I do have other things to do you know. :)

When he saw the octopus I had made, finished, mind you (from this) he instantly realized he could ask for a plethora of animals. Request number one? Shark.

A quick internet search yielded this pattern by Moogly - Shark Time Pouch.

And since Mr. A was right there with me looking at patterns, this one was the clear winner. Props to Moogly. You take the 4 year old vote, no contest. I mean, a shark with a zipper mouth? Awesome idea!

The pattern is offered for FREE - seriously! And it is well written, and easy to follow. The only times it didn't work for me were when a 2 year old distracted me or I forgot how to read. Happens.  :)

The only differences in mine?  I used variegated charcoal yarn by Lion's Brand Vanna's Choice.  I used cream colored vintage rik rak from my stash instead of felt, and a green 6 inch zipper instead of white (though I wanted red...for gums. oh well;).  Oh, and I added a row of SC around the top fin, to make it bigger.  I think it still needs to be pointier though.  I omitted the gill slits, since the yarn was so busy already. Anyway...after making?

Mr, Shark was instantly adopted and I got in big trouble for taking it for a photo shoot.

Oh well.  Had to get pics. He's just too awesome!

I hand stitched the rik rak and zipper on.  Not my strong suit. I either need practice or to commit to future use of my sewing machine.

It went over well here. Except the Octopus wasn't a fan.

Can't imagine why....

Yeah. This is totally what I do when I'm home. :) I hope it makes you smile. Hop over to Moogly for the Shark Time Pouch Pattern, for free. Any kid would love this. How do I know?

Mr. Shark has already eaten many Thomas Trains, Hot Wheels, and plastic animals. I guess all those extra zipper teeth make him hungry.

Hope you are having a great day!
