Woodland Fairy Skirt, Take 2!

When my serger first came in, remember I set about doing a version of the Woodland Fairy Skirt?  I sent it off for a fitting before I even took pictures of it!  What was I thinking!  Thankfully, I got it back Tuesday for a minor alteration, and was able to get some quick pics of it after I finished. Yay!

Here it is!

In simplest terms, its a circle skirt with an elastic waistband.  I used a 2" width elastic for the waist.  The top layer is a light pink knit with the bottom edge cut into an inverse scallop.

I used my new serger to lettuce edge the knit.  Under the layer of knit there are two layers of tulle, with no cutouts - they're your basic circle skirt pattern.  I finished the edges with a small napkin edge for a more complete look.

Any loose threads you see are from the seam I had ripped earlier.  Sneaky little buggers.

I love having the serger - this was done with Lucy 1, but  Lucy 2 will be getting a good trial run soon.

Edging the tulle was the most surprising part of the whole project - my sewing machine would have fought me to the death for it.  With the serger, those two full circles were edged in probably 5 minutes.  I die.  That is amazing!

Y'all have a great day!
