Sick Day Cardboard City

So our youngest, Mr. C, has a not very fun fever, and is taking it easy today.  Big brother was getting a little lonely, so we dug out some boxes from the recycling pile and got out the Xacto knife set, duct tape, packing tape, and scissors, and started our jobs for the day.  We were going for quantity of buildings, not great looks, but I like the designs we came up with.  Want to see?

The tall house looking structure, I've been told, is the post office, since it has packing tape all over it.

The red building is a shopfront, and the 2nd story has a nice scalloped awning.

There's also a nice 2 story barn between the post office and the wooden barn.

And my pride and joy, the castle.  Yes, I made a castle.

It's a magical castle, isn't it?  I used a shipping box, some packing material from something, and a toilet paper tube.  I even gave it stairs.  It was a lesson in cardboard workmanship.  I'm no expert, but my boys enjoyed the project.

It's a great place for the knights and fairies to hold court.  It's just too bad no one here enjoys it.  :) And also too bad we ran out of clearance duct tape. That was fun while it lasted.

It totally reminded me of a 5th grade project we had, to make something from the medieval times for a class project.  Me and my partner made a castle cake. It was fabulous.  Sure wish I had pics of that somewhere! Back to getting children on the mend - y'all have a great day!

Sorry for the sporadic postings - trying to find the new summer rhythm.  Turns out we play a lot and stay busy, and I forget the camera more. Oh well :)  Anyone want to present a project on my blog?
