Thrifting exposed! An addendum to the list...

So, after running through the post for the other day, and being impressed with all I've found...I happily settled in for a couple of days.  And then realized I really didn't show you the worst of my problem. I will bring home anything from Goodwill if I think I can paint it, make use of it, or it's just too nice to be left at Goodwill!

The breadbox. We have a love/hate relationship that will soon involve wood glue. Mr. Tupelo hates the breadbox, although it keeps his keys safe from little C.

The bedroom set. Thrifted in South Carolina.  It's grown on me and I love it. Matching nightstands too, although without those scrolling flowers. Alas, life can't be perfect.

The spice rack.  It is terribly tacky, but it makes a great makeup holder and countertop space saver.  With a coat of paint, I think I'll like it.

The cat tower.  Yeah. I am a little ashamed to buy one thrifted, but they're so expensive!  A little vaccuming and some Odoban, and it fit in perfectly.  $17 at Goodwill. And by the way, if you haven't used Odoban, it's one of the few things that gets the urine smell out of things...just so you know. Not like anything in my house EVER has that smell...

Tons of clothes. Like, half of my closet. Some very cute dresses, shirts, and lots of skirts.  I tend to buy and mend and make them fit how I like them to. If you want any minor alteration tips, I can help!

Shoes. Yes, shoes.  Don't knock it.  How many shoes do you have in your closet you have never worn or only wore on one special occasion? You can find some great new and new-ish shoes, so don't be squeamish.

My new train case! an old Samsonite in a coral, with the interior mirror intact.  It needs some cleaning up and some sprucing up, but it's a great find.  It's now the home for my embroidery kit, my crochet hooks, and my scissors...which is great, since A and C don't know how to do the latches yet, so I can keep sharp scissors in there.

Actually, most things in my house are acquired secondhand.

Like our animals - the cat was a friend's foster that we took in, the little dog was a shelter dog, and the bird. He found us. A parrot showed up on our doorstep in October, and now lives here.  Of course I acquired his cage through Craigslist.

So you can see I find all sorts of awesome things thrifting, but then...I also buy trash and attempt to make it treasure. At least I can redonate it?

And, of course, I find ideas for redoing things on Pinterest.  That black hole that I've finally learned to control.  You can find me here.

We're off to go camping this rainy, chilly weekend.  I took the 2 boys camping by myself in January and decided if I could do that, I can conquer the world.  So I made my new years resolution a bit late, that we would camp at least once a month this year.  It's giving me a great opportunity to see parts of the state I've never been to, and the kids love it. Plus, the ambient noise level is so much better out of the city and my brain gets a break.

Anyway, hope you have a great Friday night!
