Back to our normal schedule here, after the weekend. I worked on the ear warmer for a baseball hat again, and I like try number 2 better. Still not perfect, but really a sweet thing. Sorry for the ridiculously bad photos...too excited to take pics to wait for good lighting and set up a real photo area today.
Basically, I made a chain about the circumference of my head, maybe an inch or so shorter, to allow for a snug fit. Then I HDC 2 rows, turning after each one. I measured the cap and ran another HDC around the edge of the bill, and did a chain that went almost the straight width of the bill, a little longer maybe. I needed it to be tight to stay out of my eyes!
I then ran a few more rows of HDC along the length, including the new chain to allow the bill to fit through. Then I added some psuedo ear flaps on each side, and connected the back of the hat together with slip stitch. I ran a couple of rows of slip stitches around the edge to finish it off.
Oops...looking at this pic, you can see the left ear flap, then under the emblem there's a spot that doesn't line up,,,I may have forgotten half a row on the back...alas, I'm just making the pattern, there are going to be errors.
What do you think? It's a great solution when you want to wear your team's hat and it just doesn't keep you warm enough. And Georgia is a great model, don't you think? She came as "Whitney", but I just can't stop calling her Georgia. She's a great listener too. :)
Could you please post your entire pattern? I would like to make one for my husband and several friends of mine that work out in the field during the COLD days.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
