Vintage DoMore Chair

So yesterday, I introduced you to the Singer 401A.

I think she's quite a machine.  Purring along now since we rebuilt the motor.  You remember it came in the very nice mahogany stain desk?

It's now moved into my sewing area and ready to go. Ignore the Singer Spartan on the antique telephone stand - that's a story for another day.  Anyway, The desk looks fabulous in my sewing space!

What I didn't tell you what that it came with a chair.  As we were pulling out of the driveway, the seller runs back up to the truck and asks if I want the chair too?  I didn't even know it came with a chair! So I went back in, saw it, and I was sold.

I love it!  She's a vintage DoMore chair, from Elkhart, Indiana.

I believe it's probably from the 1950s, and the seat and back are covered in brown vinyl.  The entire chair frame, even the legs, are wooden.  There's casters on the bottom.

I believe, from all my research, that this chair was meant for a secretary or stenographer to use.  These chairs were supposed to be a big jump in posture care for office furniture.

In any case, it's actually a very comfortable chair, and is the perfect height for my sewing area. And it was free...so you can't beat that!

The bottom is tagged - on tag for the DoMore Chair Company Inc.

And a property tag (?) for the Gulf Co.  Any ideas?

I think this is the best chair ever. And much better than the folding metal chair I had before.  Anyone see a chair similar?  I did a lot of searching and only came up with a couple that have all wood frames.

Anyway, I hope you have a great day - here I'm getting ready to overhaul a motor from an Elna Supermatic (#2). It growls at me, so we have to teach it some manners.
