Simple Seersucker Pants

Yesterday I showed you the Simple Summer Tunic.

To coordinate with the tunic, and as part of my sportswear outfit, I made these pants -

The Simple Seersucker Pants

I made them using the Basic Pocket Pants pattern from  Growing Up Sew Liberated, and used thrifted seersucker fabric.  I think it was an old shower curtain?  (The awesome hanger is thrifted too! Score!)

I was able to use the original bottom hem as the casing for the elastic for the waistband - woohoo!

Instead of using a contrasting fabric, I used the same fabric for the cuffs and pocket bias tape.  I like a more simple look when the fabric has so much pretty texture to show off.

I also ran a twin needle down the cuff seams to help them hold up a little better.  Not a big deal, but I really love the detail it adds.  Plus, a twin needle makes it look like I'm capable of sewing parallel lines.  :)

Instead of a tag, I used a piece of garden-inspired fabric (from Ikea) to mark the back of the pants. I think it's extra adorable.

These are the perfect summer pants.  Light, cool, and stylish.

Did you notice I snuck a little ladybug patch on the back waistline?  :) It was a big hit.

Thanks for reading!
